Signing Alisson Becker could well be key for Liverpool this season in their quest to finish top of the pile in the Premier League.
That’s according to pundit Phil Thompson, who said that the goalkeeper could well be the missing part in the puzzle for the Reds and someone who can try and get them to the top of the table.
He said on Sky Sports: I think if all goes to the plan, Liverpool’s acquisition of Alisson will justify the money. Liverpool had to complete the jigsaw by signing a top goalkeeper. I think that he could make the difference between competing for the top four and the title.
I’ve always been a fan of Andriy Yarmolenko, who was hot, hot property a few years ago. West Ham have done well to get him in; whether they can get the best out of the players they’ve brought in is the big question.
Trophies for Klopp
It’s certainly the time for Klopp to win trophies, and given the Liverpool manager has not done so in his time at the club so far, he is now being scrutinised more than ever.
The fact Liverpool have spent heavily this summer and now have a good squad and a great spine means they won’t get the chance to escape once again without big criticism if they do fail to win the league.
At the very least this season, they’re expected to really push Manchester City, and try to once again show their credentials in Europe.
